Finger Knitting

I have always wanted to learn how to knit or crochet. I am left handed, and tried to learn how to crochet from a right handed person. Let's just say I lost patience and told myself "maybe another time." I recently found something I can do without being frustrated. It's very easy to learn, and you can make things sitting on your couch. Finger knitting, if you have never tried watch my video below and I will show you how easy finger knitting can be.   The yarn I used was Bernat Baby Blanket. I used this because it's very soft and also very warm. Any size yarn will work it just depends on the project you are wanting to create. Leave me ideas in the comment section below for more crafts you want to see me try.

Decorative Letters

ABCDEFG, what can you do with just a letter? Most of my ideas come from the internet, catalogs, or from others. When I started this project I wanted something I could have up at all times of the year. My goal was to eventually have different letters decorated for different themes. Think of what theme you are looking for; a particular season, a holiday, or just a traditional look that can stay up all year. The picture below shows how I decorated my mantle above the fire place. I already had a old window I pulled out of my shed. In the top three open spots I usually put undated pictures of my three girls. Just an FYI when you buy your first letter you will realize there are several different types of letters: wood ones, card board, light up, ones that stand, ones that are flat, and on and on. I strongly encourage you to think of your project ahead of time. I have three young kids and at this time in my life FAMILY is a good theme. First thought was how will I decorate each letter so

Wine Corks

Come one come all, calling all wine lovers! I am a wine lover, don’t be mistaken I’m a very cheap wine drinker who is happy with a bottle of Livingston or Barefoot. That is why I rely on my family and friends to send me corks. When you finish your bottle do not forget to keep the cork, I have some interesting crafts for you in this post.  My first idea was to make a decoration for my kitchen. A very easy design you can make is a traditional letter. This one I added a little extra corks on the bottom and top to give it a little flare. If you are planning on hanging the letter I would put a backing on it. Using some cardboard is easy, then I literally used pop can tabs to hang it.  I was lacking in Halloween decorations, and found this idea on the Internet.  This is very easy to make. The one on the left is about 5 inches tall and the other is about 3 inches. I added silk leaves on the top with an extra cork for the stem.  While making this  the top should have the same numbe

Making a Paper Flower Arrangement

In another one of my posts I taught you how to make a simple paper flower that looked something like this. There are several ways you can incorporate this flower in everyday arrangements. I want to share a few ideas you can do with the flower to use as a present, in home decor, or just some crafting time with yourself. These are a few arrangements I made.      Adding a simple button in the middle of the                            flower adds to the look! To complete these projects I use the following ➖ ▪️Scrapbook paper: any kind will work even the ones with designs  ▪️Glue gun and glue sticks ▪️For my arrangements I like to use inserts for instance an ivory or a fern  ▪️Floral foam block ▪️Wooden dowel: I buy the long ones then break them down to the size I need. Get a small size 1/4'' I use this as a stem.  ▪️Green floral tape to wrap the stems  ▪️Any pot or basket Once you have mastered this type of flower there are several other ty

All About Paper

I always thought scrapbook paper is used solely for scrap booking. Wrong, I quickly realized scrapbook paper can be used in several different projects. In this post I wanted to show you a fun hobby I started about five years ago, making paper flowers. I Love to work on these. Yes they are time consuming, but when you are finished they look great. Here are a few flowers arrangements I have completed.  In the steps below I describe a step by step process how to make one of these.  The flower shown below is a common flower I use in most of my bouquets or flower arrangements. Lets get started. Depending on what you are making the flower for, will depend on how big you want the flowers. I typically make a 4 by 4 square. One flower takes 5 squares. #1:Once you get the squares cut you can start folding.  First fold is completed by folding one end to another making a triangle.                     #2: Now take each bottom corner and fold it up to the center corner.
